From the shape of the chillies, this might be taken for a baccatum cultivar, but the flower and other characteristics point to chinense. Originating from Peru, it is possible that this is a natural interspecific hybrid.
As expected with a landrace, the plants are not totally uniform with some cropping more heavily than others.
A very tasty chilli with thick juicy flesh, making it an ideal variety for making salsas.
